Sapien Uses AI Differently
Sapien is using Agentic AI with Natural Language Processing (NLP) to interpret and then address chat box input from its users. We are not using AI to make decisions. Rather, we embrace AI to respond to inquiries, extract the necessary information from your specific data set within your cloud, and give you and your people the ability to make decisions quickly based on information. For example, using NLP, users might request the following:
- Reports. “Show me a Succession Planning report for all leaders in the UK…”
- Queries. “Prepare a set/query of all Training Administration records for a plant…”
- Exports. “Send me an Excel sheet that shows everyone at salary grade XYZ in France…”
Importantly, Sapien is not building algorithms that might have inherent bias. Our Agentic AI is here to help you make decisions. And, along with our Human Resources Augmentation (HRA) global managed services offering, Sapien AI advances the expertise of HR leaders and decision makers.

AI Prompting

Sapien engineers will assist in client specific training in a private and secured instance of the client’s data model. Sapien will train AI to recognize your corporate language and nomenclature, and ingest and train on your specific handbook.

As a Regional HR Administrator over US offices, I ask Sapien AI Assistant a question about workforce compensation:
What percentage of ‘top performers’ received a below market YOY base salary increase in 2024?
(Sapien will know what ‘top performers’ means to you, and also check your permission to access data.)
After receiving results, Sapien AI Assistant is asked:
Are any of those employees ‘At-Risk?’
Then, the next prompt might be:
Add Compa-Ratio, %inRange, and 2024 Corporate Bonuses.
Finally:
Create a table and export to Excel.

AI Agentic Transactions

Sapien engineers will refine the reactive Agentic transactions within the Sapien platform. Sapien is targeting to release one new Agentic experience per month.

As a Self Service user, I ask Sapien AI Assistant a question about taking a vacation next week:
I’m thinking about taking next Friday as a vacation day.
AI Response:
You have 12 accrued Vacation days available to you. Would you like me to create a Vacation Request and route to your Manager for approval?
From here the system will create the record, route to manager, alert originator when approved/denied, and send a question prompt to the employee after the Absence event to confirm the day was utilized.
Longer term, Sapien AI Assistant might provide information for the employee to consider such as,
You could take Friday but your largest client is reporting earnings that day, and this would be the 5th Friday you have taken this year. Do you still want to request the day off?

As an in-country manager, I need to hire 10 people in Belgium:
Who should I use to recruit for 10 senior executives in the Brussels office?
AI Response:
Here is the resource recommended in Brussels (name), but your records show that you currently have 4 people in France who have indicated a willingness to relocate to Brussels. Would you like their names?
AI Assistant is then asked:
Yes, and can you share the performance reviews of those candidates for relocation?
AI Response:
Here are the four candidates. Two of the candidates are Belgian nationals which would eliminate the need for work visas to Excel.

An easy way to visualize functional areas across the individual entities of a holding company, Sapien can help companies to better plan across their enterprise with full visibility as to headcount, pending applicants, more.
A deeper dive into the employee base, Sapien enables companies to view details ranging from gender and diversity to organizational structure, salaries, and more. Whatever data exists in the system can be presented with an eye towards better understanding of the strengths and vulnerabilities of the organization.
Sapien allows a company to look at their employee base from a performance perspective, identifying strengths and vulnerabilities within departments and across the organization as a whole.
Using natural language queries, Sapien can present and provide insight into a host of topics. In this instance, Management was interested in salaries by department to assess where the company is vulnerable to losing key people, and/or where the company is likely overpaying within specific departments. This company defined salary ONLY as base compensation, but AI will be trained for each company to recognize the way in which they define compensation and which might include base salary, benefits, bonuses, stock awards, vacation, etc.
